28th November 2008
(Aldershot UK) In just 12 hours more than 50,000 people have filled out the details of their property’s features online as part of OurProperty.co.uk’s new project to paint an accurate portrait of the UK housing market.
At 11am, 12 hours after the feature had been launched, the website had around 10 homeowners per second filling out the OurProperty.co.uk Survey.
The survey is a short series of questions about the features of the OurProperty.co.uk member’s houses. It asks 18 questions ranging from the number of bedrooms and bathrooms to the decorative condition and the number of parking spaces.
The survey aims to gather the most accurate source of information on the real state of property in the UK – there is currently no other source of data on this scale in existence.
The survey has been launched to OurProperty.co.uk’s 2 million members along with exclusive new data enabling anyone to find out what a property sold for up to 13 years ago. The 5 million new sales between 1995 and 2000 were released on the 10th November 2008.
As a result of the popularity of the survey it will be launched as a stand-alone feature to members in the next fortnight. Currently only those looking to view the pre-2000 data can take the survey.
Once a critical mass of surveys have been completed the information will be available free to anyone who has taken the survey on the site. It will enable anyone to find out the features of any property sold in the last 13 years where a survey has been completed.
The information is also being used to create a council tax valuation tool, which will give extra ammunition to people challenging their council tax band.
You can view and take the survey by signing up as an OurProperty.co.uk member, entering a postcode and selecting a road to view, then clicking on the green bar at the top to ‘view sales between 1995 and 2000.’
“The support we’ve had from our users is unbelievable – we’ll have the whole of the UK covered in no time at this rate.. Everyone has been crying out for accurate property information, and now we are getting very close to this being a reality.”
“It’s the largest property information sharing project ever attempted, but with an existing 2 million membership base and a real demand for the information, we’re confident that it’ll be a success. ~ Brendan McLoughlin, Founder, OurProperty.co.uk
